Apple Developer tax and price updates (Aug 27, 2026): new VAT/DST changes and equalized price shifts

Apple’s tax and FX updates tend to look boring until they hit your support queue or your revenue reporting. This Aug 27, 2026 update is mostly about proceeds and equalized pricing changes, but it is the kind of thing you want in a release and finance runbook.

What changed (high signal)

• Proceeds were modified due to tax changes in:
  • Morocco (VAT introduction of 20%)
  • Republic of the Congo (VAT introduction of 18%)
  • Tanzania (digital sales tax rate increase from 2% to 3%)
• Equalized pricing updates land beginning Sept 14 for apps and non-subscription IAPs in Israel, Indonesia, Morocco, and the Republic of the Congo (unless one of those is your base storefront).
• App Store Connect now shows the upcoming price changes in Pricing and Availability.

Why it matters

• Your “same price” is not the same price everywhere. If you rely on equalized tiers, changes land without a marketing campaign, but they still change conversion.
• Support gets blindsided first. Even small deltas can generate “why did my price change?” tickets. Having a canned explanation helps.
• Reporting needs labels. If you are tracking net revenue or proceeds by country, taxes and equalization shifts can look like demand changes unless you annotate them.
